• John Parker's funeral

John's funeral will be led by Rev Mortimer and will take place on Monday 19 June at 1330hrs at West Suffolk Crematorium. Should you require further details, John Wilcock is undertaking the arrangements.

  • What's this all about, then?

The idea was not mine, but Walter Woodcock's.

"You're a clever bloke" he said in his characteristically never-quite-sure-if-this-is-compliment-or-sarcasm style at the funeral of a former colleague, "Tell me why, in this day and age, we can't get information about our old mates over the internet?" You see, he, and others too it turned out, had learnt about Martin's funeral just in time to attend.

To be fair to me, his idea was to ask the brigade to send out the routine order (now the more politically correct "service bulletin") by email to those retired folks who had an email address.

That started me thinking. It just is not practical to do as he suggested (not least because I don't think details of funerals, etc. of former colleagues always make the bulletin anyway). But maybe a public blog, which others could leave comments on, could serve the same purpose.

So, here we are. Hopefully, over time, this blog will be able in some small way to help keep former colleagues informed about each other, especially where someone needs help, support or just social contact.

You can post comments with news about former colleagues on any of these posts, or you can email me direct at: ken.seager@bigfoot.com and I'll put your news on the net for you.
